Walking in autumn with the aroma of burning leaves in the air. Admiring a dragonfly that has landed on his sleeve. Dangling one’s toes from a wooden dock in the midst of summer. Enjoying the quiet of a winter’s snowfall. Gazing with awe into the depths of the night sky. The poems in this collection speak to the beauty of nature and love of the natural world. They also tell of the joys that can be found in the simple acts of planting a garden, feeding birds, playing with grandkids, or simply appreciating all that life has to offer. Birds singing gaily in colorful trees Fall treading softly through sun shining bright Yet the feeling of imminent change harkens hidden In the days shrinking shorter in lingering light A flower blooms in the garden a gift there to find Left to grow forever in memory in this grateful mind. Jim enjoys observing nature, the natural world, and life in general. These poems reflect those observations and feelings and are meant to be read when one needs a break from life’s hectic pace.
